How long have you been belly dancing?
I started belly dancing in 2009.

Why did you decide to start taking belly dance classes?
I used to faithfully watch this show called “Shimmy”, and my husband Burt encouraged me to start taking classes. I started out in Cabaret style but when I took my first ATS® class I was hooked.

What classes have you taken at WIM?
The classes I’ve taken at WIM are Fundamentals & Intermediate and Advanced Tribal Bellydance and most recently Tribaret .

What are your hobbies/interests outside of belly dance?
When I’m not in class or practicing, I love to travel and I volunteer at my church. Netflix is also a favorite thing to do and of course being with my family of men.

Who is your favorite belly dancer?
I have many favorite belly dancers but my all time favorites will be my first teachers. Patti Beaman and Dawn Ruckert.

Do you have any favorite props or belly dance movements?
My favorite dance props are hands down are zills. I can’t think of anything that makes me happier than the first strike. Such a beautiful sound of many zills playing in one accord. My favorite dance moves are Shoulder Shimmy Hip Drop and Chico 4 corners.

What’s your favorite part of taking classes at WIM?
Finding out what we’ll be doing in class today, seeing my dance sisters, and of course dancing!

Do you have any advice for prospective belly dance students?
My advice is : Have fun and ask lots of questions. Practice, practice practice.
