Who’s behind WIM and how did we get here?
Sashi and Emily are a dynamic mother-daughter team who have nearly 20 years combined dancing and teaching experience. They have performed at various venues locally and nationally with their tribal bellydance troupe, Blue Moon Dance Company. Sashi was a participant in the Launch the Venture entrepreneurship program at UNC-Chapel Hill, where she crafted and perfected the vision of what World In Motion would become. She also brings to the studio many years working with children as a school teacher. Emily, who also is a member of the incomparable tribaret dance troupe Sparkle Oasis, keeps the studio running with her stellar organizational skills, and shares her terrific writing skills and unique sense of humor as our resident blogger and newsletter editor.
Heather is a “reformed” ballerina turned bellydancer who met the Blue Moon ladies in 2007 and never looked back. She dances locally with Twilight Tribal bellydance troupe. Heather ‘s professional career has taken her abroad and allowed her to work with students from a wide variety of cultures, so she relishes World In Motion’s global focus and the opportunity to share it with locals looking for something different. After completing an entrepreneurship course last year, she is thrilled to be partnering with Sashi and Emily to bring you World In Motion!
